New Features
Package Hierarchy+
Version 28.4 introduces the Package Hierarchy — a new feature that lets you build structured, multi-level packaging for your shipments directly in Business Central. You can nest boxes inside pallets, split Sales Lines across multiple packages, and calculate weights automatically across the entire hierarchy.
Add Sales Lines to a Package. From a Sales Order line, select Add to Packaging Unit to connect the line to an existing package or create a new one. The same action is available on Warehouse Shipment lines, so you can manage packages directly from the shipment without navigating back to the Sales Order.
Split quantities across packages. When adding a Sales Line to a package, the quantity field defaults to the remaining unallocated quantity. For example, a Sales Line with quantity 10 where 6 have already been packed proposes 4. The system prevents entering more than what remains.
Packing and Shipping view. The Packing and Shipping view shows the full package structure with correct indentation at every nesting level. The root package row shows package-level data and each child row shows the correct item for its Sales Line. You can lock weight at a specific level to preserve a manually entered value when item-based calculation is not appropriate.
Package weights on Waybill Lines. Gross Weight and Net Weight are calculated from the Sales Lines linked to each Packaging Unit and shown on the Waybill Line. Weights roll up through nested packages, and removing a line recalculates the total automatically.
Auto-apply packages to Waybill Lines. When creating a waybill from a Sales Order or Warehouse Shipment, the system automatically adds waybill lines for all related packages. Duplicates are prevented and package statuses are respected. Configure via Shipping Manager Setup → Auto-add related packages to waybill.
Package hierarchy from Waybill Line. A new action on the Waybill Line opens the full Package Hierarchy for that line, including all nested packages and their linked Sales Lines. The Package Content action is context-aware: selecting a Sales Line row opens the containing package, not the line itself.
Enter Package Number dialog. The dialog now defaults to showing only packages related to the current document, with a toggle to switch to All Packages. The Create New Package button is a primary action directly in the dialog — no longer hidden in the overflow menu.
Package No. as primary key. The SCB Packaging Unit table now uses Package No. as its primary key — the identifier printed on physical labels and used for scanning in warehouse flows. This enables consistent package identification across the system and is a prerequisite for the Add Existing Package functionality.
Default hierarchy templates. A default setup of hierarchy templates is included for Packaging Units, so the feature works out of the box without manual configuration.
Feature flag. Package Hierarchy is registered in Abakion Feature Management. Enable or disable it for all users or per user from a single place — no code deployment required. When upgrading from an earlier version, the feature defaults to enabled to preserve existing behaviour.
Package Hierarchy — Hazardous Materials+
A read-only hazmat indicator is shown on the SCB Packaging Unit List. The checkbox reflects automatically whether a package contains hazardous materials, so warehouse operators can identify hazmat packages at a glance without opening each package.
A Show Hazard Symbols action in the hierarchy opens a consolidated list of all unique GHS hazard symbols across the entire hierarchy — each symbol shown only once. This makes it easy to identify which hazmat labels are required for the outermost packaging unit.
The Show Hazard Pictograms action is context-sensitive. Selecting a line with no hazmat shows nothing. Selecting a hazmat line shows only that line's pictograms. Selecting a package line shows all pictograms for the entire package.
Package Hierarchy — License Plate Report+
The Print License Plate action is now available directly from Waybill, Sales Order, Warehouse Shipment, Transfer Order, and Packing and Shipping. A selection dialog lets you choose which packages or lines to print. Requires Document Customizer to be installed.
Transfer Order — Full Waybill and Package Support+
Three automation settings that previously only applied to Sales Orders and Warehouse Shipments now also cover Transfer Orders.
Auto Create Waybill automatically creates a new waybill when a Transfer Order shipment is posted.
Send Waybill on Post Document automatically sends the waybill to the shipping agent on posting.
Close all packages when posting shipment closes open packages automatically on posting.
This brings Transfer Orders fully in line with the existing behaviour for Sales Orders and Warehouse Shipments.
Waybill API v3 — Bill-to Fields+
The full set of Bill-to fields is now stored on the Waybill Header and populated from the Sales Order, covering Default, Another customer, and Custom billing. This works for waybills created directly from a Sales Order and from a Warehouse Shipment originating from a Sales Order. The fields are exposed on the v3 Waybill API.
Waybill API v3 — Customer EORI Number+
A new EORI No. field is added to the Waybill Header and populated from the customer's EORI Number when a waybill is created. The field is exposed on the v3 API output, enabling connectors to send the EORI to carriers for customs clearance in countries that identify by EORI rather than VAT — such as GB and NO.
Waybill API v3 — Correction Endpoint+
A new API endpoint lets you correct waybill data fields — including address, postal code, and customs fields — after the waybill is created but before it is sent to the carrier. This is the v3.0 implementation using correctWaybillInfos and updateWaybillInfos.
Waybill API v3 — Package Content+
Package content is now available via the Waybill API. Each package includes packed items with quantities, UOM, HS code, country of origin, weights, and values. Monetary fields respect permissions and can be masked automatically. The feature is backwards compatible and configurable.
Waybill API v3 — API Field Handler for Sales Header and Sales Line+
The API Field Handler Setup now supports Sales Header and Sales Line in addition to Waybill, Warehouse Shipment, and Warehouse Receipt. Configured values are captured at Sales Order release and made available to shipping connectors, working the same way as Warehouse Shipment fields do today.
Automatic Customs Tariff Calculation on Direct Sales Order Posting+
Automatic customs tariff calculation now also runs when a Sales Order is posted directly — not only when posting via a Warehouse Shipment. Customers who do not use Warehouse Shipments now get customs tariff lines calculated automatically. The calculation uses Qty. to Ship and follows the same Paperless Specification setup as Warehouse Shipment posting.
Get Freight Quote+
A new Get Freight Quote action is available on Sales Orders, Warehouse Shipments, and Waybill Headers. The action opens a Freight Quote Request dialog pre-populated with sender, receiver, and packaging details, retrieves live rates from the configured carrier via API, and displays available services with pricing. Selecting a service writes the shipping agent and service to the Waybill Header and optionally creates a freight sales line based on configured markup or discount rules.
Delivery and Pickup Time Windows on Sales Order and Waybill+
Four new time fields — Delivery From Time, Delivery To Time, Pickup From Time, and Pickup To Time — have been added to the Sales Order. These values, along with Requested Delivery Date, are automatically transferred to the Waybill Header on waybill creation and exposed on the Waybill API, enabling connectors to pass full time window constraints to shipping agents.
Warehouse Receipt Overview+
A new Warehouse Receipt Overview provides a worksheet-style view of inbound receipts, modelled on the existing Shipment Overview. It includes location and status filters, receipt navigation and process actions, and fly-out totals — completing a 360° view of both inbound and outbound warehouse activity.
Shipping Agent Service — Freight Account Code+
A new Freight Account Code field on Shipping Agent Services supports customer-specific shipping agreements across the order-to-shipment flow.
Improvements
Package Type Auto-Identified on Waybill Lines+
When you manually enter a Package No. that already exists on a Waybill Line, the Package Type is now populated automatically from the existing package. If the package does not exist, the field remains empty and you can select the type manually.
Tooltips and Captions Updated Across Manager Foundation+
Tooltips and field captions across all Manager Foundation tables have been reviewed and updated to provide clearer, more consistent in-context guidance directly in the interface. Users get more informative help when hovering over fields, reducing the need to consult external documentation for common field meanings.
Auto-Create Connector Card on App Installation+
A Connector Card is now automatically created when the app is installed, reducing the number of manual setup steps required to get started.
Bug Fixes
Shopify Sales Order Release — Concurrency Error+
Release of Shopify-created Sales Orders no longer fails with a concurrency error when an item has weight but SCB weight fields were never previously calculated.
