Information Codes
The Information Code is the foundational element in the Master Data Information structure within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
It acts as a dynamic, configurable metadata field that enables users to enrich core entities—such as items, customers, vendors, serial numbers, and lot numbers—with structured, validated, and multilingual data.
Primary Features
This feature enables users to enrich master data and documents by adding up to 24 custom fields to a table—10 text fields and 14 data validation fields. The data validation fields support types such as Boolean, Date, Integer, and others, allowing structured and controlled input. All added information is automatically displayed on related pages, making it easier to access and utilize extended data directly within the workflow.

Feature Purpose
The Master Data on Documents feature in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central enables the seamless transfer of structured master data,
such as information codes, values, extended texts, and multilingual descriptions—from core entities (customers, vendors, items, serial numbers, and lot numbers)
into both open and posted business documents.
This functionality ensures consistency, reduces manual data entry, and enhances traceability across the entire document lifecycle.
Users can define descriptions and extended descriptions for information codes in multiple languages. These descriptions are dynamically applied to documents based on the language code set on the document. This centralizes multilingual text management, ensuring consistency and reducing manual effort.
This functionality enables users to automatically generate item descriptions by merging selected information fields. It ensures consistency across items, and any changes to the master data are reflected in all related descriptions. The feature also supports multilingual setups, simplifying maintenance across languages. A Long Description is added as well, to make it possible to have a longer Item Description than allowed in standard Business Central
