New Feature

Planning Templates

New category filtering and user preference features added to Planning Templates

Planning Templates now support category-based filtering and user-defined preferences. A new "Template Category" field and table have been added, along with a "Show Templates" action. Users can also define preferred categories in a dedicated table, accessible via a new button in the Planning Templates list. When users specify what categories to show, only templates with blank and any of these categories are shown when opening the Planning Template page.

User Planning Template Categories

Improved management of Reverse Planning templates with new standard flag, refresh action, and upgrade logic

A new "Standard Template" field has been added to the Planning Templates table to distinguish Abakion templates from user-created ones. A refresh action allows planners to delete and reinsert updated standard templates. An upgrade logic ensures that existing installations also benefit from this feature by marking current Abakion templates accordingly.

Improvements

Reverse Planning Worksheet

Improved accuracy of Gross Weight and Cubage calculations in Reverse Planning Worksheet based on selected Unit of Measure

The Reverse Planning Worksheet has been enhanced to ensure more accurate data representation when changing the Unit of Measure Code on a line. Previously, Gross Weight and Cubage values were always pulled from the base unit on the item card, regardless of the selected unit, leading to inconsistencies.

With this improvement:

  • If the selected Item Unit of Measure has values for Gross Weight (Abakion field) and Cubage, those values will be used.

  • If those fields are blank, the system will fall back to the base unit values from the item card.

  • If an Item Unit of Measure exists and the Cubage and Weight fields are filled in, the system will calculate Unit-/Total Volume and Unit-/Total Gross Weight using those values.

  • If no Item Unit of Measure is found or the fields are blank, the calculation defaults to the Unit Volume and Gross Weight fields on the Item.

  • If any of the following apps are installed — Sales Container Handling, Purchase Container Handling, Shipping Manager, or Warehouse Manager — and the Gross Weight field is filled in, that value will be used. Otherwise, the standard Net Weight field will be used.

“Edit in Excel” for Reverse Planning Worksheet

Users working in the Reverse Planning Worksheet within Business Central can now take advantage of the "Edit in Excel" functionality. Previously unavailable in this area, this feature enables users to export planning data to Excel, make bulk edits, and re-import changes directly into Business Central.

This enhancement streamlines planning workflows and significantly improves usability for warehouse and supply chain teams, who often rely on Excel for rapid data manipulation. By aligning the Reverse Planning Worksheet with other planning tools that already support Excel integration, this update ensures a more consistent and efficient user experience.

Sorting enabled in Reverse Planning Worksheet

Users can now sort the Reverse Planning Worksheet by clicking on any column header, improving usability and aligning it with standard list behavior in Business Central.

Direct Replenishment & Simple MRP Planning

Improved feedback in Simple MRP journal and Direct Replenishment when lines cannot be carried out

Planners will now see helpful hints in both the Simple MRP journal and Direct Replenishment when lines cannot be carried out due to missing Quantity to Order, Vendor, or Transfer Location. This enhancement improves usability and helps users resolve issues more efficiently.

Planning Templates

New best-practice templates have been added to the Reverse Planning app to help users get started quickly with predefined setups

To enhance the user experience and reduce setup time, we’ve introduced a set of predefined Planning Templates in the Reverse Planning app. These templates are designed according to industry best practices and provide a solid starting point for users who are new to Reverse Planning.

Users can now:

  • Quickly get started without needing to configure templates from scratch.

  • Use the predefined templates as a foundation and customize them as needed.

  • Benefit from a more intuitive and guided setup process.

This update is part of our ongoing effort to make Reverse Planning more accessible and efficient for all users.

Bug Fixes

Reverse Planning Worksheet

Vendor Item No. not populated in Reverse Planning worksheet

Resolved an issue where the "Vendor Item No." field was not auto-filled when creating a purchase order from the Reverse Planning worksheet. This now aligns with the behavior of the Standard Planning Requisition Worksheet.

Simple MRP Planning

Fix for Simple MRP Auto run Carry Out Actions logic to skip only erroneous lines

Resolved an issue where Simple MRP with "Auto run Carry Out Actions" enabled failed to move any lines to the Reverse Planning Worksheet if one or more lines contained errors (e.g., missing Vendor No.). The system now skips only the problematic lines and processes all valid ones as expected.

The functionality to set the Accept Action Message field to true in the Simple MRP, Move Demand Dates & Direct Replenishment pages now checks to see if the line can be carried out. If not, the field won't be set to true.
This fuctionality is also executed in the Calculate Simple MRP report providing the field Auto run Carry Out Actions is set (and also for the Suggest Moving Demand Dates report, as this at one point employed the Auto run Carry Out Actions functionality - this has since been deprecated and is therefore not available to the user any more).

When employing the Auto run Carry Out Actions functionality, any lines that the system is unable to carry out upon will be left in the Reverse Planning Journal.
